This is a testpage for podcastng a vr to iTunes, if it works you should be able to see it by clicking (or copying) this link and subscribing it to iTunes podcasts, it works for me does it for you ?

QTVR podcasting: how to

The long road to podcasting a QTVR to iTunes has been explained by Hans Inge Hagen, you’ll find all the instructions and files to manually code your iTunes feed here.

The short road I’ve been using was initiated by Nicolas Truchaud and it is dead simple: all you need is a RSS feed to your website, you’ll have one automagically generated if you’re using a recent web publishing package (like wordpress, textpattern, etc…)

  1. Create a QTVR with a soundtrack I use CubicConnector to do it
  2. On your web page include a link to your podcast using a relative enclosure link: <a href="http://www.yourwebsite/yourpodcast.mov" rel="enclosure"></a> (note that this link will not show on your page and only the first enclosure on the page will be read as a podcast)
  3. Copy your RSS feed url
  4. Register a free account with feedburner
  5. Burn the RSS feed address you copied at step 3 (checkmark the I’m a podcaster! box)
  6. Make sure the podcast feature is activated in your feedburner account
  7. Retrieve and publish your iTunes podcast feed link, mine reads like this
    itpc://feeds.feedburner.com/mediapiculture/YzZw (You can either use itpc:// as the beginning of your URL or pcast:// which is more dedicated to podcasts…)
  8. Test it by subscribing it in itunes podcast
    (Open iTunes -> Advanced -> Subscribe to podcast …(Your feed URL)
  9. If this works for you send me the link so that I can add you to my list of QTVR podcasters.

Now to figure out how to make these fullscreen work, the iTunes FS button doesn’t react as expected, and it’d be nice also to have QTVR available on a future video iPod … until then please submit the bug to the iTunes team with a link to your QTVR podcast feed (panocast?) that should motivate them to maybe fix it.

QTVR podcasting: mode d’emploi

Le long chemin vers le podcasting d’un QTVR dans iTunes a été tracé par Hans Inge Hagen, il fournit toutes les instructions et les fichiers source pour coder manuellement un fil xml pour iTunes ici.

La voie rapide que j’utilise a été initiée par Nicolas Truchaud et elle est incroyablement facile: tout ce qu’il vous faut est un flux RSS de votre site web, si vous utilisez un éditeur en ligne récent tel que textpattern, wordpress ou dotclear (ce dernier en français) le fil RSS sera généré automagiquement

  1. Créez un QTVR avec une piste son incluse (CubicConnector fait cela très bien)
  2. sur votre page web insérez un lien de type “enclosure” vers votre podcast: <a href="http://www.votresiteweb/votrepodcast.mov" rel="enclosure"></a> (notez que le lien ne sera pas visible sur la page et que seul le premier lien de type “enclosure” sera reconnu comme podcast)
  3. Copiez l’url de votre fil RSS
  4. Ouvrez un compte gratuit chez feedburner
  5. Générez le fil RSS copié à  l‘étape 3 (cochez la boîte I’m a podcaster! )
  6. Assurez-vous que l’option podcast est bien activée pour votre compte feedburner
  7. Récupérez votre lien iTunes podcast, le mien ressemble à  ceci
    itpc://feeds.feedburner.com/mediapiculture/YzZw
    (vous pouvez utiliser soit itpc:// au début de l’url URL ou bien pcast:// plus dédié aux podcasts … )
  8. Testez-le en y souscrivant avec iTunes podcast
    (Lancer iTunes -> Menu avancé -> Souscrire à  un podcast …coller votre lien récupéré à  l‘étape précédente)
  9. si ça marche pour vous envoyez moi votre lien que je l’ajoute à  ma collection de QTVR podcasteurs.

L’implémentation QTVR dans iTunes n’est pas parfaite, mais ça marche, il reste à  comprendre pourquoi le bouton “plein écran” n’est pas opérationnel avec des QTVR, et ça serait bien de pouvoir les synchroniser avec une future génération de video iPod … d’ici là  on devra se contenter de soumettre le bogue (constamment) à  l‘équipe d’iTunes avec un lien vers son QTVRpodcast (Panocast?) pour les motiver à  réparer l’erreur.

    You might be interested in taking a look at our little application Podifier for creating rss feeds. We are working on our Pro version for both Mac and Pc and it will more than capable of publishing rss feeds containing QTVR movies to iTunes. As soon as we have a beta I’ll let you know.

  8. Hervé, the link will only feed an iTunes installation, itpc=itunes podcast. If you don't have iTunes it won't work

  10. pcast:// only works on Macs, IIRC.

    itpc:// works on Windows and Macs, so long as iTunes is installed.
